Exercise no. 3 --- Key to Corrections

1. Although all had eaten, nevertheless they were not happy.

Omnibus manducatis, tamen non erant felices.

Quamquam omne manducaverant, non tamen erant felices.

2. When he will have ascended to the Father, Jesus will be ashamed of the men not hearing the Father's words.

Cum ad Patrem ascenderit, Jesus viros non audientes verba patris confundetur.

3. Quapropter salutare praeceptum Domini felices audivimus, et diligimus omnes, et nobis ('to us') similes et dissimiles.

Wherefore happy we have heard the saving precept of the Lord, and we love all, both similar and dissimilar to us.

Therefore we, the happy ones, have heard the saving precept of the Lord, and we love all, both similar and dissimilar to us.

Therefore, happy are we who have heard the saving precept of the Lord, and we love all, both similar and dissimilar to us

Quiz no. 3 - Key to Correction and Top Ten

LATIN III QUIZ NO. 3
Key to Correction

1. Militibus clamantibus, rex ambulat ad pulchram urbem.
2. Multis urbibus captis a bono rege, puellae timebant hostes.
3. With Peter and Paul being/as the apostles, Mary (has) praised God.
4.  When dinner had been prepared / having been prepared, Peter (has) permitted the new disciple to stand at the right hand of Paul.

NOTES:
1. Nobody got a perfect score.
2. Please be guided that the verb "permettere" may be followed by a dative and an infinitive. [SEE page 98 of the textbook]
3. If the construction of the clause is  ablative absolute, do not put 'cum' and do not use the simple perfect passive but the PPP or perfect passive participle.
4. Observe the proper use of preposition.
5. I have already given most of the vocabulary words yet many are still misled.
6. A participle is a verbal adjective so it must agree in number, gender and case to the word it modifies.
7. There are those who still need to brush up with their Latin I and II. Sorry but we do not have the luxury of time and we need to proceed.
8. There are many things to learn so please help me give you a passing mark.
